Dear Continuing Education Student,

Given the current fiscal crisis facing California and the community college system, San Diego Continuing Education has reduced the summer instructional program to six weeks. This decision was made based on our core commitments to provide quality student services and a sound instructional program and effectively address the legal requirement that CE operate within the budget provided by the state legislature. As a result of this reduced summer session and current economic hard times, many of our classes are now operating at full capacity. Accordingly, you may not be able to enroll in some classes this summer and will have to wait until the fall semester or you may need to delay enrolling until after the first week of the summer session.

While we are hopeful the current fiscal crisis will be resolved soon, it is very likely the fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters will also be impacted. In any case, the key is to plan ahead. If you want to enroll in a class with high student demand be sure to enroll during the first class meeting. Also, be sure to attend all class meetings so that you are not dropped from the class.

While we all acknowledge these are difficult times, planning and commitment on your part will enable you to successfully navigate your way through Continuing Education and realize your educational goals.
